Shaft Fitting Info

FLEX is the relative amount a shaft will bend during the swing, (golfers should play the most flexible and lightest weight shafts they can control) generally denoted as a rating such as:
L = Ladies (60-70 mph swing speed)
A = Senior (71-80 mph swing speed)
R = Regular (81-90 mph swing speed)
S = Stiff (91-100 mph swing speed)
X = extra Stiff (105 mph swing speed)

More flexible shafts feel softer and allow slower swinging golfers to increase their initial shot trajectory.

TORQUE is the amount a shaft will rotate in response to a known twisting force. Expressed in degrees and can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Do not be too concerned about torque unless your speed swing is over 100 mph and very quick. The reason, the club head stays on the ball for only a fraction of a second so twisting is minimal at best and slower speed swings do not even torque the golf club. Too low a torque for slower speed swingers will make the shaft feel stiffer. The lower the torque number, the stiffer the shaft feels at impact. Torque and swing speeds are closely related.

WEIGHT refers to the raw uncut weight of the longest shaft available in a particular model. Lighter golf shafts mean lighter total weight and, therefore, the prospect of additional clubhead speed and more distance.

BEND POINT (flex point) refers to the point on the golf shaft at which maximum bending occurs during the swing. In general, slower speed swingers should use low to mid bend points which will produce more clubhead feel through greater tip flexibility and higher ball trajectory. Faster speed swingers should use mid to high bend points with a more tip-firm feel and lower ball trajectory.
